When Adriana Lima Was Young & Still Beautiful
Lima was born in Salvador, Bahia in Brazil on 12th June 1981. Her father, Nelson Torres was a woodworker and her mother, Maria da Graça Lima worked as a social worker.
Adriana Lima was raised by her mother due to her farther dying before she turned one year old.
Lima was born in Salvador’s Castelo Branco neighbourhood. She stated that she wanted to be a paediatrician before she started modelling.
She was only 13 years old when she entered her first modelling beauty competition in Brazil.
Although Lima had won tons of beauty pageants in her school years, she never wanted to become a famous model. Lima was invited by a school friend to enter a modelling contest and, as you can guess, did very well.
Both Lima and her friend sent pictures to the contest sponsor, who soon asked Lima to participate in the competition.
She was 15 years of age when she entered the Ford’s Supermodel of Brazil’s model search, where she grabbed first place with ease.
In 1996, she also was a contestant in the Ford Models Supermodel of the World contestant and came in second. Lima then signed with Elite Model Management and has never looked back.
Adriana’s runway modelling debut was at Anna Sui New York Fashion Week in 1997, which marked the beginning of her reign as one of America’s most beloved supermodels.
